Frequently Asked Questions
Where do we meet you at?
There is only one boat ramp and dock at sand hollow I will have the boat in the water at the dock where your crew will load the boat and head out. (unless you are setting up day camp on the beach)
to get to the dock drive through the gates into the park and stay on that road until you get to the big parking lot. you will see a building with concessions and restrooms the boat ramp/dock will be right past the on the right.
can we bring food and drinks on the boat?
Short answer YES. please feel free to bring food, snacks, and drinks on your trip. we do ask if you have younger kids that you remind them to be careful about spilling food or drinks and if there are any accidents please pick it up or let the captain know so we can get it cleaned up.
we do not supply a cooler but feel free to bring your own. be aware it does take up space on the Boat so if you have a larger group be mindful of that.
what lakes do you charge to?
we currently only charter to sand hollow state park we are a licensed and insured company with the permits to this lake.
what is the best time of day for boating?
The earlier in the day the better.. if you can start your booking at 9:00 am that is the most ideal time especially if you are doing a longer booking. the later in the day the more crowded and windy the lake will get. Weekdays and holidays will be busier times. If you have the option of booking monday-friday those are the most ideal days to beat the crowds.
what if we have never surfed before?
These are our favorite types of bookings we take pride in providing your crew with professional surf and wakeboard instruction. we have taught thousands of beginners-experts how to surf for the first time and love assisting in someones journey to surfing.
what is the difference between surfing and wakeboarding?
WAKE BOARDING: originated in the 1980s and quickly became the most popular water sport wakeboarding is when you are strapped into the boots of the board you generally ride 60-75 feet behind the Boat at speeds of 18-22 mph the goal for most is to jump from on side of the wake to the other clearing the middle section.wakeboarding is an aggressive and progressive sport with much more strength and time to learn the wipeouts are harder but more for the thrill seekers.
SURFING: wake surfing gained its popularity around 2010 when they started making wake surf specific boats it if by far the most popular activity over the last decade most people do not own wakeboards or skis these days all everyone wants to do is surf. Surfing is when you make a wave on one side of the Boat replicating a miniature version of waves in the ocean. it does done anywhere from 5-20 feet behind the boat at speeds of 10.8-12 mph the slower speeds and close environment make wake surfing a fun and forgiving activity for beginners and a fun challenge for all levels of experience. The goal with wake surfing is to surf the wave without the rope assisting you. you can fully surf the wave with out a rope. the wipeouts are mellow and the vibes are high when surfing it is great for ages over 8 years old.
what activities should we include if we have kids?
Tubing is ultimately the best option for the little kids anyone can do it and we can go as slow or fast as the riders want to go.
How big of groups do we book for?
We take groups of all sizes we cater to everyone and do a hand full of family reunions, retreats, work parties ect
. On the south side of lake there are beautiful red sand beaches with shade trees and picnic tables for large groups we recommend setting up your day camp at that spot and send smaller groups out on the boat throughout the day we can pick up/drop people off at anytime through out the day.
